Amy Dowden's Strictly Come Dancing co-stars and friends have flooded the TV star with endless support after she announced that she has been diagnosed with another form of cancer.

The Welsh professional dancer, 32, revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer back in May and has since undergone an operation, as well as a mastectomy and fertility treatment.

Her return to the hit BBC One show was in doubt due to her health – but she had been determined to get herself on the Strictly dance floor in an exclusive chat with the Mirror last month.

However, after her operation, Amy gave a devastating update on her health during a recent Instagram Live video.

Chatting with breast cancer survivor and Paralympic gold medalist Erin Kennedy for the charity CoppaFeel!, Amy sadly revealed she had been diagnosed with 'another type of cancer' after doctors found more tumours.

The star has since had a mastectomy and has now been told she will need chemotherapy, which means she’ll miss out on being paired with a celebrity on Strictly Come Dancing this year.

Speaking candidly in the live video, Amy revealed doctors found more tumours when she underwent her MRI and mastectomy.

She said: “For me my journey everything changed. I was originally going to have a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and hormone treatment. But then, after my MRI, they found another tumour so then it changed into a mastectomy and then, after my mastectomy, unfortunately, they found even more tumours.

“And my pathology wasn’t what they were expecting. And they found another type of cancer and then they told me I needed chemo – for me that was a massive blow. It wasn’t in the plan, originally – and I know the plan you can’t get fixated on.

“So all of a sudden then I realised. And you get scared. But the oncologist did say that with chemo I’ve got a really good chance of a cure. I was really scared and I didn’t want to do chemo but then seeing someone like yourself who’s carried on and for me straight away it was my dancing, like, you can take away my boob but you can’t take my dancing away from me and that’s what I get really upset about.”

Following the candid update from Amy, she was flooded with support from her famous friends and Strictly stars alike.

Amy took to Instagram to share an inspiring and motivating quote amid her diagnosis which read: "Keep shining darling. You are stronger than you think. Even though you may doubt it, you will get through the hard stuff with grace, strength, and courage."

In response, her Strictly Come Dancing co-star Dianne Buswell penned: "Yes you will."

Michelle Tsiakkas also added: "Yes you will. Love you."

While Nancy Xu Xi gushed: "Come on my darling girl."
