Dan Wootton has made a public plea for cash donations to help him in his bid to fight the allegations made against him.

GB News presenter Dan, 40, earlier this week vehemently denies claims made by publication, Byline Times, alleging Wootton "hid behind fake online identities to trick and bribe scores of men into revealing compromising sexual material". The newspaper claims to have seen "extensive evidence" to prove that over a period of 10 years, Wootton posed as a fictitious showbiz agent called Martin Branning to offer sums of up to £30,000 "tax free" to his alleged targets.

The Mirror has spoken to one former colleague of Wootton who was in contact with a Martin Branning but we are yet to independently verify any link between Branning and Wootton. The Mirror presented the allegations made by the Bylines Times to GB News on Monday, who replied on Wednesday: "Dan commented on this extensively in his programme last night and we won’t be elaborating."

Journalist Dan, 40, later denied the allegations in his GB News show earlier this week.

Speaking to GB News viewers on Tuesday night, Wootton said within his opening monologue: "I, like all fallible humans, have made errors of judgement in the past, but the criminal allegations being made against me are simply untrue. I would like nothing more than to address these spurious allegations. I could spend the next two hours doing so but, on the advice of my lawyers I cannot comment further."

Now, former Lorraine host Dan has made a public plea for cash to help fund his legal fight against the recent allegations.

He posted a link to his donation page on Twitter, which had been titled Stop Dan Wootton being cancelled by far left online smears.

Dan then wrote in a tweet above: "A hard left blog is on a deranged campaign of harassment designed to destroy me financially, mentally and professionally – but, with your help, they will not succeed. Please support my legal case against Byline Times so I can keep fighting for you."

The page, which has so far raised around £4,500 out of its £150,000 goal, then adds: "A hard left blog is on a deranged campaign of harassment designed to destroy me financially, mentally and professionally – but, with your help, they will not succeed.

"Byline Times has eschewed all journalistic, legal and moral practices to publish a series of defamatory and untrue claims as part of a highly politicised witch hunt designed to cancel and de-platform me.

"Byline have already come for the likes of the Free Speech Union, the Legatum Institute, GB News and Douglas Murray who received substantial damages for their lies.

"Now they and others want to silence me."

Byeline Times say they "disputes" Dan's comments "in the strongest possible terms".

Peter Jukes, co-founder and executive editor of the Byline Times, said in a statement: "This is a very Trumpian tactic. Trump was alleged to have broken various US laws, and rather than address those issues of fact, he said it’s a conspiracy and a witch hunt.

"Exactly the same language is used by Wootton – you attack the motive. I understand why he’s doing that on a personal level, it’s not very convincing on an evidential level.

"We’ll wait and see as we publish more, and if he ever replies to any of our questions, of which we’ve submitted 50.

"We have pursued this story because of alleged personal behaviours and things we believe are wrong individually in terms of having false identities and catfishing – that has nothing to do with Dan Wootton’s politics, it has nothing to do with his time at GB News, because nearly all of the evidence we have predates that."
