Meghan Markle has been open with sharing her lifestyle, routine, and diet.

The Duchess of Sussex previously spilled all about her cooking and daily life on her now defunct blog called The Tig.

And now her daily routine has been exposed in royal biography, Finding Freedom.

In the mornings, the fitness fanatic she has hot water and a lemon slice to get her day started. A study found that doing so can actually help support weight loss. That is the only benefit to her morning drink, either.

Since her water includes some citrus, Meghan is getting a solid dose of Vitamin C. The antioxidant protects cells and can help your body produce necessary hormones. If you're looking to avoid kidney stones, lemon water will help with that, too.

Many people specifically use lemon water to help with digestion. When you drink lemon water, a boost in gastric acid secretion helps your body to break down food easier. Studies show that drinking lemon water before the meal is the most effective way to get this outcome.

Since Meghan starts her day with a warm mug of lemon water, she's already off to a good start.

As for the rest of her diet, Meghan says that "it's all about balance". She told Better Health in 2016 about how she avoids dieting and opts, instead, for a term called "lifestyle eating".

Meghan said: "When I'm filming, I'm conscious of what I eat. I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.

She added: "Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things."

So, part of her diet includes foods like french fries and carbs which she agrees are definitely are totally okay in moderation.

Next month, Meghan is revealing a recipe so that we can all take part in her eating ritual. In a charity cookbook, The World Central Kitchen Cookbook: Feeding Humanity, Feeding Hope, she'll be sharing her lemon citrus cake recipe.
