Tara Palmer-Tomkinson's sister shares 'joy' of seeing her late sibling's spirit

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson's sister, Santa Montefiore, appeared on Wednesday's Loose Women where she shared the "joy" of seeing her late sibling's spirit.

Tara tragically passed away in February 2017, aged just 45, with her death treated as unexplained. Her sister later revealed her cause of death was a perforated ulcer and peritonitis.

Appearing on Wednesday's Loose Women, Santa, 53, paid tribute to her sister, as she claimed that after never getting the chance to say goodbye to her sibling, she was reunited with Tara's spirit six months after her death.

Santa, who claims she has been able to see spirits since a child, explained that they were "very close" and that Tara was always "terrified" of ghosts and spirits.

She said: "Then she comes to me in spirit, which I think is rather ironic because she hated them so much and there she was as a spirit."

Santa continued: "When she died, it hit me like a truck - one of the things I learnt, from being psychic and being able to see spirits and being very quick to say to people when they talk about their own grief. 'It's okay, he's still with you'.

"I learnt from Tara's death, that's not enough. I felt it was almost like a quick fix: 'It's okay' and actually it really wasn't okay.

"I knew that she was fine and in spirit, but I suffered. It was like my heart had been scooped out. I expected her to come every night as that's when I see spirits."

She added: "I expected every night that Tara would appear, I would go to bed: 'Please Tara, please just come and let me know you're okay.' Then about six months later, I wake up to see this, it's like a hologram, it's a different quality.

"My husband was asleep and she was there, going: 'Santa, Santa, Santa!' I just felt this urgency and the joy of seeing her. She was 18-years-old again, glossy, radiant, happy and exuberant with this wonderful sort of mischievous energy.

"I know from experience if I get excited and I sit up and go: 'Hello' - I go out of range, it's a bit like a radio, you go off the mark. So I have to keep myself very calm and I just communed with this energy, she's so happy, it was just lovely."

Santa said she immediately told her mother, who is "quite sceptical", and when she revealed that Tara had been wearing a baby Pink T-shirt, her mum went quiet.

The author explained that her mum had buried Tara in a baby pink T-shirt but no one knew this as she hadn't told anyone.

Santa added: "I think that was Tara revealing herself or projecting herself in a T-shirt so mum would know that I hadn't made it up."

Despite sharing her joy about seeing her sister again, Santa admitted that it doesn't take away from the grief.

She said: "It doesn't take the pain away, I still miss my sister, madly, I've learnt that it doesn't take the pain away."

Santa added that she has seen Tara since and that strange things will happen, such as lights going out.

Loose Women continues on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
