A firefighting couple, eagerly anticipating their upcoming wedding later this year, are now fighting for their lives after sustaining serious injuries in a devastating accident.

The incident occurred when their fire engine overturned while en route to a crash scene on Rocky Bottom Road in Upson County, Georgia around 4pm

The pair of volunteer firefighters, identified as Logan Gordy and Trista Cheeks from the Taylor County Fire Department, were responding to an emergency call on Saturday, according to reports from WGXA-TV.

However the fire engine they were in flipped while attempting to navigate a curve along the road.

Both Logan and Trista were rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital by emergency services. Tragically, both individuals sustained life-threatening injuries that have left them in critical condition.

Trista suffered a brain bleed and underwent surgery on Sunday. She is currently in the intensive care unit, where she is closely monitored as she begins the process of recovery.

Logan endured an inoperable brain bleed and significant brain swelling as a result of the accident.

There has been no improvement in his condition thus far, apart from some limited movement in a few fingers observed on Sunday morning. His right side remains immobile.

The family rallying around the couple are praying for their recovery. In a statement released by the Taylor County Fire Department, Logan's father, Tim Gordy, said: "Still keep them prayers coming. We serve a mighty God who can heal. He has a Big Testimony.”

Monroe County Emergency Services made a post on Facebook about the accident on Saturday night.

"We just received word that neighboring Upson County's Volunteer Fire Department had a fire engine rollover today with two of their members severely injured. Both were flown to Grady with life-threatening injuries. Please keep them in your prayers."
