Wenger makes bold Arsenal prediction after Rice 'investment'
Arsene Wenger has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League after they sealed the club-record signing of Declan Rice.
Rice's long-awaited arrival from West Ham was announced on Saturday after a summer-long chase that saw the Gunners fight off interest from Manchester City. They paid the Hammers a £105million fee for the midfielder, a new record for the Premier League giants.
Boss Mikel Arteta is hoping that Rice's arrival can be the final piece of the puzzle Arsenal need as they look to end their 20-year wait for a league title. Wenger, the last manager to win the Premier League with the Gunners, certainly believes Rice can be that man.
The Frenchman hailed the decision to smash the record previously set by the £72m signing of Nicolas Pepe to bring in the England international. And he predicted that Arteta will finally break the title hoodoo as a result.
“I think it is a good investment. Overall, personally I think they have made good buys as they are players who are now mature, 23,24, and still young so can stay together for a few years," Wenger told Eurosport.

“They will be under more pressure after last year, but they have learned a lot and they can show they can deal with that pressure now. I had to cope with no money at all, so you have to find a different way.

I believe we will win the championship, it is as simple as that. I have less doubts for Arsenal than the cycling today.”
Rice himself revealed the main reason behind his move was Arsenal's emergence as a trophy contending team. He heaped praise on boss Arteta, highlighting the style of play that the Spaniard has brought to the club.
"Big clubs, like Arsenal, have come for me and it’s really hard to turn down. You only ever get one career and I really believe in what Mikel is building here and the squad he’s building. I’m really looking forward to the future with Arsenal," he said.
"I’ve been looking at Arsenal over the last couple of seasons and the trajectory they’ve been going on. Not last season but the season before, they finished fifth but you could see the style of play Mikel was implementing.
"Last season was an outstanding season, blowing pretty much every team out of the water with the exception of Man City. With Mikel and how he works, the squad, how young everyone is, the energy around the club and also the challenge of getting Arsenal back to where they belong, that means a lot to me.
"I know the fans really want that. For me as a player, I’ve come here really hungry to have more success and to spend my best years at this great club. I know I’ve got more levels to go up in my game, and I feel like he’s the manager to take me to those next levels."
