Liverpool name 32-man pre-season squad as £40million transfer hint dropped

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed his 32-man travelling squad for Liverpool's pre-season camp in Germany.

The Reds will fly out on Saturday to set up base in Baden-Württemberg for the next phase of their preparations for the 2023/24 season. Klopp's men are due to spend 10 days in the region, with friendlies scheduled against Karlsruher SC on Wednesday and then Greuther Furth the following Monday.

However, as Liverpool prepare to jet out to Germany, Klopp has named his squad for the tour. Interestingly, there is no place for Fabinho, who has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in recent days. Al-Ittihad are the side interested in the Brazilian and they have already lodged a £40million bid which the Reds will consider accepting.

Fabinho, 29, has three years left on his contract at Anfield but could be sacrificed to pave the way for more incomings this summer. The ex-Monaco star also suffered a serious dip in form last season and Klopp has been busy recruiting new midfielders to his already-talented squad.

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai arrived from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively, and both players have unsurprisingly been included in Liverpool's pre-season tour. The duo have been working hard during the last week after the Reds began training on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, unlike Fabinho, Jordan Henderson has been included in the travelling party. This is despite the England international being linked with a move to Al Ettifaq. Henderson is supposedly closing in on a lucrative switch to Steven Gerrard's side after 12 years on Merseyside.

As for the remainder of the Liverpool squad, Caoimhin Kelleher has been named after being linked with Wolves and Brentford this summer. There is little surprise with the rest, with Virgil van Dijk, Thiago, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold all involved.

There is also place for a number of youngsters, including goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga, who spent last season on loan at eighth-tier Macclesfield. Several of those young players have spent some time with the first-team squad already, with many used in pre-season last year.

After Liverpool's final friendly in Germany against Greuther Furth, they will face Championship side Leicester in Singapore, before facing Bayern Munich at the same stadium. Klopp's side will then return to England to face SV Darmstadt at Preston's Deepdale in their final pre-season friendly on August 7.
