Emmerdale actor Kevin Mathurin has hinted at receiving some negativity as he hit back at trolls on social media.

The actor, who plays Vicar Charles, took to his Twitter account as he sent a stern message to those sending cruel messages as he said: "I hope you feel better about your life soon."

The star didn't specify what hatred or cruel messages he'd received but it must have been enough for the soap actor to feel the need to address it as he shared two tweets to his social media kicking back at "negative comments" from the "1% percent" choosing to send nasty messages.

Writing on Twitter, Kevin tweeted: "You know that 1% percent of you that pluck up the courage, warm up your thumbs to type negative comments when someone expresses a little bit of joy…I hope you feel better about your life soon. Or better yet, don’t @ me."

He followed it up with another tweet as he wrote: "I was going to start this tweet with a rant. But that’s not where I want my headspace to be today. I want to have a great day at work with great people. I hope you get to do the same, too. Take care of yourselves and each other."

Whilst the star didn't specify what the negative messages were, it's fair to say they've caught Kevin's attention as he felt strongly enough to address them to his 2.5k followers on Twitter.

Outside of receiving negative tweets, Kevin has addressed the sudden departure of his co-star Karene Peter with an emotional farewell message following her recent exit from the show.

Karene, who played Kevin's on-screen daughter Naomi Walters, made her final Emmerdale appearance last Thursday after her character was accused of stealing money at work.

The dramatic exit saw the strong-willed pub chef, who first arrived in the Yorkshire village in June 2022, jet off to Ibiza with cash from Vinny Dingle after being encouraged by her dad to start a new life.

Sharing a snap of himself with Naomi, Kevin wrote: "Sadly, for us as friends and a team, we dealt with the goodbyes months ago.

"I had to hold it down for no spoilers. But It wouldn't feel right to go on without acknowledging how much you are missed right now."

"You gave so much jokes on set," Kevin continued, before adding that her antics with Rebecca Sarker, who plays Manpreet Sharma on the show, was a "PROBLEM!" He also said that the "energy was vibrant" before hailing Karene as a "beautiful human being who knows her path."

"I really admire that," he added. "Stay on it. You’re definitely heading in the right direction. PEACE MI DAWTA!"
