EastEnders star Danny Walters has teased Keanu could die at Christmas in a shocking betrayal twist.

Danny has opened up about the rumours Keanu might be the mystery body at Christmas. The person, whoever they are, finds themselves dead on the floor as the six matriarchs of Walford stand over the body - but who is it and what happened to them?

Could Keanu end up being the body at Christmas? He has made some big enemies recently, after lying to his fiancé Sharon as well as stealing tens of thousands of pounds from Phil Mitchell, but is that enough to see his demise in the coming months?

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror last month, he said: "It's not what I can tease, it's what I can't say. There's a lot going on for my character, for character he's involved with. I really want to tell you a lot of things coming up. The storylines are so juicy and fun for me to play and it's going to be fun for the audience to watch. I want to say more!"

It's interesting, because the females that are involved in the flashforward, they are attached and associated with men in their life. And anyone who is attached or associated to those women... there is speculation it could be myself, it could be anyone who's a male on the Square who's associated with the women. Whoever it's going to be I have faith, I trust in the producers that the storyline will be incredible and will be a storyline that has got the nation speculating and talking.

One time I might have a theory and then that might debunk what I thought. Every time I read the next scripts, I'm always changing my theory. It's fun for me to be a part of that storyline but scary that you might not have a job next year!

BBC soap boss Chris Clenshaw had been working on this idea since 2022 when he first joined the show.

"It’s been in the pipeline since I took over at the beginning of last year. I was looking for a blockbuster story for 2023 and there was clearly an appetite for a ‘whodunnit’, but I was reluctant to play a ‘whodunnit’ in the traditional form, largely due to the spectacularly brilliant ‘Who Killed Lucy’ storyline, that was not just hugely successful but also incredibly gripping throughout," he said.

"We developed the idea and thought it would be even more exciting if we didn’t reveal who the victim is – becoming so much more than a ‘whodunnit’… It’s a ‘who-is-it’ as well. We then decided to kick the story off at a time when The Six women – Linda, Suki, Kathy, Stacey, Denise and Sharon – are each involved in stories connected to the men in their lives."
