A desperate search for a young girl is now into its second day as police issued a desperate appeal for help finding her.

Missing Anna, 7, went missing in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on Sunday. She was last seen in the city of Lowe between 2pm and 3pm yesterday.

The search resumed today after it was suspended on Sunday night and one man involved in trying to find Anna said he was "very concerned."

"We're very concerned about the little girl," he said. "We have family, nobody wants this to happen to anyone."

Another added: "That's how we feel, we just got to go out there and look for her like she's our baby."

Reports indicate she was last seen wearing a white vest, a purple hear tie and black shorts. She is described as a black female, four feet seven inches tall and weighing 70 pounds.

Anna is described as "on the autism spectrum and is non-verbal," by police, who warned she may be riding her bike.

Search dogs, dive teams and the Massachusetts State Police Airwing have all been deployed in the search for Anna.

"Anywhere a child could be possibly located. Your vehicles, sheds, doorways, decks, anywhere," said Lowell Police Superintendent Greg Hudon. "Just keep an eye out and if you see something, give us a call."

In a statement, Lowell Police said the force is using a variety of methods to search for Anna.

The statement said: "Lowell Police have deployed multiple officers, the K-9 Unit, and the Drone Unit to the area, and are also being assisted by the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council K-9 Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Airwing, the Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit and the Lowell Fire Department.
