Madonna is focused on her health in hopes to return to touring and work as soon as possible.

The "Material Girl" singer is cooped up inside her New York City home recovering after her stint in the ICU for a 'serious bacterial infection' last week. She contracted the infection two weeks before she was set to start her Celebration World Tour on 15 July in Vancouver, Canada.

According to her pal Rosie O'Donnell, Madonna is "very strong" and "feeling good" as she recovers at home. Rosie also posted a throwback Instagram post to reassure fans and show her love for her long-time friend.

Now that she's home, an insider told UsWeekly: "Although Madonna is looking forward to getting back to work as soon as possible, she's also taking her recovery seriously and isn't going to rush anything because she is focused on her health above all else."

This news comes after sources claimed that Madonna ignored her symptoms and pain, thinking they were nothing to worry about as she concentrated on rehearsing for her upcoming tour. But it seems the Vogue singer is now taking her health as seriously as possible.

"She has an incredible support system around her and appreciates all the love she's received. It's a work in progress, but she's feeling confident and better every day," the insider said.

While it was reported that her family and friends were banned from discussing the tour or any work obligations with Madonna while she was in hospital, it's unclear if that rule still applies while she recovers.

Her family was very worried in the first few days of her hospitalisation. "For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst," a relative told Daily Mail. It was reported that her daughter Lourdes, 26, did not leave her mother's bedside during that time.

But their concerns seemed to dwindle as her manager, Guy Oseary, posted on Instagram on 28 June that "Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several-day stay in the ICU." She was supposedly hooked up to a ventilator and intubated during her stay. After her health scare, last week the Queen of Pop was cleared and sent home.
