Liverpool will be aiming to make it back-to-back Premier League victories this weekend as they come up against a Newcastle United side aiming to get back on track after a slight stumble.

The Reds have endured a disappointing season thus far and sit ninth in the current table and already nine points off the pace in the race to get into the Champions League next term. Jurgen Klopp’s side did manage to secure what will arguably be the most satisfying victory of their season last time out though.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo secured a 2-0 victory over Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield on Monday. They now have the opportunity to secure consecutive wins in the Premier League for the first time this year.

It will not be easy coming up against a Newcastle side who are enjoying a standout season under Eddie Howe. The Magpies occupy fourth place in the Premier League after just one loss in the league so far this term - that coming in dramatic circumstances against the Reds at Anfield.

Whilst their season has been stunning so far, it is threatening to fall somewhat flat. Newcastle have drawn five out of their last six matches and failed to score in three of those games. It goes without saying that Howe will be keen to get his side back on track sooner rather than later.
