Gordon Ramsay has been roasted for expecting customers to pay £48.45 for a burger and chips at his new restaurant.

The celebrity chef, 56, has opened a new gaff in Harrods, London, called Gordon Ramsay Burger.

The luxury department store has billed the homemade lamb patty - complete with harissa aioli and feta cheese - as the "flavour of the month", but the cost of the grub has left a bad taste in customers' mouths.

The burger, which is only available in June, costs a whopping £35 on its own - but fries with ketchup are £8.50 extra.

For reference, a Big Mac Meal at McDonald's costs just £6.29 — £42.16 cheaper.

Discovering the price of Gordon's latest offering, one customer tweeted: “Thirty five pounds?!"

While another quipped “Looks raw.”

Meanwhile a former disgruntled diner mused: “I hope the burger has improved" as someone else piped up: “Lost me at the feta cheese.”

Elsewhere on the menu, Gordon charges £27.50 for a Hell’s Kitchen Burger and a not too shabby £12.50 for the Hell’s Kitchen Junior Burger.

His restaurant's website reads: “A taste of America, without the trans-Atlantic trip; the first Gordon Ramsay Burger restaurant outside of Las Vegas has touched down in Knightsbridge, and as you’d expect from Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay, these are not your average quarter-pounders.

“Enjoy it all with a dessert shake, blended with a creamy pudding for a truly decadent, too-thick-for-a-straw treat. If there’s ever a time to indulge, it’s at Gordon Ramsay Burger.”

The Mirror has contacted the chef's reps for comment.

News of the star's 'out of touch prices' come as Gordon's fellow celebrity chef Tom Kerridge was slammed for charging £35 for fish and chips.

The Michelin-starred star - known for his appearances on Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen - serves the dish at Kerridge's Fish and Chips - also in Harrods.

It includes battered fish and a handful of triple-cooked chips - or 'wafer thin fish and eight chips', according to some unimpressed punters.

Tom boasts two Michelin stars and runs eight restaurants, including his chippy located in Harrods.

The chef, 49, explained: "This Market Day Fish is made with my light and crisp, gluten-free batter, served with triple-cooked chips. Matson curry sauce, tartare sauce and pease pudding."

Unfortunately, the "pretentious" offering has not gone down well with fans, who criticised Tom's costings.

"Ridiculous price to charge, especially with cost-of-living-crisis," one claimed. "Shame on them."

Meanwhile, a second said: "Eight chips and a tiny thin bit of fish? This is pretentious b******s."

Another agreed, saying: "Wafer thin fish and 8 chips. Telly chefs are all becoming so out of touch with Joe Public," while someone else joked: "Just waiting for the re-mortgage application to come through and I'll be there."
