A student has described the moment she found one of the stab victims in yesterday's Nottingham rampage.

University friends Barnaby Webber and Grace Kumar, both 19, were killed in the horror attack in the city centre around 4am.

A third victim, an unnamed man in his 50s, also died.

Three further people were taken to hospital after being struck by a van, with one in a critical condition.

Nottinghamshire Police arrested a 31-year-old on suspicion of murder.

Witnesses heard "blood-curdling screams" as Barnaby and Grace were attacked just minutes from home.

It's understood they had been on an end of exams night out at nightclub Pryzm.

Their bodies were found on the street.

An unnamed third-year student, aged 21, was the first person to come across Barnaby while getting an Uber home alone.

She told The Times: "We were driving past and saw this body in the road. The road was completely empty. At first I thought it was a mannequin but when the Uber driver swerved to avoid it I saw it was a body.

"The Uber driver called the police and I got out and ran towards the body. I was the first one there and I could see he wasn’t responding. He was face-up in a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

"You could see he was covered in stabbed wounds from his neck to his toes."

She went on to say police arrived and spoke to her and another young woman who witnessed the incident through her window.

The third victim was attacked in Magdala Road.

He is thought to have been a tradesman, with the knifeman believed to have stolen his van before targeting people elsewhere in the city.

A video shows a man being detained by police in Maple Street next to an open van, with witnesses describing him being tasered.

Talented sportsman Barnaby's parents David and Emma and younger brother Charlie, have described their "complete devastation".

A 20-year-old Sociology student who does not wish to be named told The Independent: “My friend knows the boy who died, he called me this morning. Both he and the girl were freshers walking back from a nightclub.

“Yesterday was a really big day, end of exams and there was a day festival at Binks Yard. Loads of people then went to Pryzm nightclub afterwards, it was really busy.

“Apparently the boy and girl were walking home, it’s about 25 mins walk from Pryzm. This morning everyone was texting and calling each other to see if everyone was okay and then my friend called to say he knew the boy who had died.”

Stunned and saddened people made their way into St Peter's Church, in the city centre, to pay their respects and show solidarity on Tuesday evening.

During the service, attended by mainly young people of university age, those present were invited to place flowers below the altar or light a candle.
