Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are missing from This Morning's social media pages following the former's move to step down from ITV after admitting to having an affair with a younger male colleague.

This Morning's Twitter page previously included a banner image of Phillip, Holly and Friday presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

However, this has now been replaced with a generic picture which displays none of the existing presenters.

The news comes after Phillip broke his silence following his revelation about his affair and subsequent decision to part ways with ITV and his management company.

Phillip spoke out a day after Dr Ranj blasted This Morning as "toxic" after admitting he thought "long and hard" about opening up on his own experience as a contributor on the ITV programme.

Phillip wrote on Instagram : "Now I no longer work on this morning I am free to say this.

"I hope you have noticed that it’s the same handful of people with a grudge against me all the show who seem to have the loudest voice. This Morning is the best show to work on with the best people. In all the years I worked there, there was no toxicity.

"You can listen to those persistently loud voices if you like. But the thousands of guests over the years, thousands of staff and crew hundreds of presenters and contributors all now. It is a family of wonderful talented, kind hard-working people."

Sharing a statement on Twitter, Dr Ranj claimed he became "increasingly worried about how things were behind-the-scenes and how people, including myself, were being treated".

“I didn’t know the truth about what was going on with Phillip, but I do know the issues with This Morning go far beyond him. It takes more than one person to create a culture.

“So I did what I thought was right and, as ITV confirmed last night, I raised my concerns about Martin’s behaviour (and the environment at TM) with Emma Gormley [managing director] especially given that my job is to look after people’s well being and I had been heavily involved in diversity, anti-bullying and mental health projects across the channel.”

“I then found myself being used less and less," he added before claiming show bosses "assured" him complaints were being investigated.
