Man and woman arrested after 'targeted' intruder attack as victim fights of life

A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man suffered life-threatening injuries in a "targeted attack".

Greater Manchester Police stormed an address in Didsbury, Manchester, on Sunday afternoon after a 37-year-old man was assaulted by intruders.

He was rushed to the hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries, which police say are not from a knife or a blade. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Police believe this was a targeted attack.

Later on Sunday night, police arrested a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and having possession of a Class B controlled drug.

A 19-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They both remain in custody for questioning.

Authorities remained on the scene today as police say they are still following lines of enquiry.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police told the Mirror: "Greater Manchester Police arrested two individuals after a man aged 37 was assaulted by intruders at an address on Heysham Avenue in Fallowfield at approximately 4:40 pm on Sunday 21 May 2023.

"Later that evening, one male aged 20 was arrested on suspicion of attempt murder and having possession of a Class B controlled drug. A female aged 19 was also arrested on suspicion of attempt murder.

"The victim sustained life-threatening injuries which were not consistent with the use of a bladed article. He is in hospital and remains in a critical condition.

"Greater Manchester Police would like to reassure the public that they believe that the assault is a targeted attack.

"Detectives remain at the scene collecting evidence and following lines of enquires."
