Mikel Arteta's transfer plans change as Moises Caicedo shares his Arsenal regret

Arsenal will now have one eye on the summer transfer window after Sunday's 3-0 loss against Brighton put an end to any lingering title hopes.

Even before the Seagulls had ran riot at the Emirates, it looked like mission impossible for Mikel Arteta's men after Manchester City churned out a 3-0 win at Everton earlier in the afternoon. And the champions now need to win just one of their remaining three Premier League matches in order to retain their crown.

But it's still been a season to remember for the Gunners, who have already qualified for next season's Champions League. As transfer season draws closer, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from in and around the Emirates...

Arteta's transfer plans change

Arsenal are ready to be more flexible with their wage structure in the wake of their remarkable domestic campaign.

The Gunners are set to come up short in the title race, but the Londoners have still exceeded all expectations this term under Mikel Arteta, who is set to be rewarded with a bumper summer transfer budget.

Former Arsenal transfer target Moises Caicedo has taken to social media to admit that he regrets the challenge that injured Gabriel Martinelli in Sunday's match.

In a feisty start to proceedings, Caicedo was fortunate to evade sanctions after he caught Martinelli heavily with a sliding challenge from behind. After initially trying to play on, Martinelli was later forced to withdraw due to the after-effects of the challenge.

Caicedo, who was the subject of bids from Arsenal in the January transfer window, was criticised online for the tackle by fans. And he admitted that he wished he'd never gone to ground during an exchange with one fan on Twitter.

Arsenal are preparing to shatter their transfer record to sign Declan Rice - but they are unwilling to meet West Ham's huge £120million asking price.

The Hammers captain has emerged as Mikel Arteta's top transfer target ahead of the summer window, where it's anticipated that Rice will be allowed to move on by his boyhood club if the price is right.

Arsenal are preparing a proposal worth £90m - some way short of West Ham's own valuation of Rice. It currently remains to be seen if either side would be willing to soften their stance to avoid a drawn-out transfer saga, but things could become clearer towards the end of the season.
