Liverpool go to Leicester on Monday gunning for not only a seventh straight Premier League win, but to keep their Champions League dream alive.

Three points could even see them leapfrog United in to fourth place, but that would only occur if the Red Devils slipped up at home to Wolves on Saturday. Regardless, Jurgen Klopp is already planning for next season, and that's regardless to whether or not his team are dining at Europe's top table.

Having missed out on seemingly Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham, the club have been linked with a host of names as Klopp looks to revamp his squad. But fans of the Reds have good reason to be excited after one potential signing emerged this week.

Mirror Football identified three of the main headlines emerging out of Anfield on Friday, May 12.

The agent of Manuel Ugarte has appeared to confirm Liverpool's interest in the Uruguay international midfielder.

‌Liverpool have followed the holding midfielder since he joined Sporting Lisbon from fellow Portuguese club F.C. Famalicão back in 2021.

And it is understood while there have yet to be any formal talks over the midfielder, who has release clause of £52 million, the Anfield club have Ugarte on a list of possible defensive midfield targets, which include Real Madrid ’s French star Aurelien Tchouameni, and Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich.

‌Chijane, who works with super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has Liverpool stars Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Fabinho on his roster, confirmed that interest, but also insisted they weren't the only club enquiring.

"Liverpool? There is a lot of talk, but it is not the only club, there are others. There is a lot of talk, but I am still not sure about the club (he will sign with). ‌There are many possibilities on the table. I believe that in 15 days the situation will be resolved."

Allardyce cutting about "rubbish" Klopp claims

Given he's previously labelled him a "soft German" and "the problem" at Anfield, small wonder Sam Allardyce hasn't been full of praise for Jurgen Klopp amid his return to management.

The German is one of several bosses to have been vociferously critical of Newcastle United this season over perceived time wasting tactics. 'Big Sam' will face his former club at Elland Road on Saturday as he bids to inspire Leeds to Premier League survival, and was asked about the notion in is pre-match press conference.

"Who doesn't do it? Who complained?" he replied. When the name of the Liverpool boss was put to him: "He time wastes," came the immediate retort.

At least the jibe wasn't confined to Klopp alone, with one journalist pointing out that Man United boss Erik ten Hag had made similar complaints: "He time wastes, they all time waste last five minutes when they're winning 2-1, don't be daft, that's rubbish!" scoffed the 68-year-old.

Alexander-Arnold admits to accidental Alisson assist

Liverpool throwing everything into their final few games in a bid to make the Champions League? Makes you think of THAT Alisson header doesn't it.

Trent Alexander-Arnold provided the cross that day, now admitting it's his favourite ever assist. And yet, he didn't even mean it.

"My favourite would be Ali's," he told the Premier League. "It is probably the easiest technically to do, because it's a corner, but the fact of the importance on it is crazy. I think it's so underrated and it goes under the radar as to how big that goal was for us.

"I could lie and say I aim for Ali, if that makes it sound better - but I didn't. It was a good ball, though, I can't lie. It was a special, special goal. I was speaking about this with my mates the other day and the only way this goal gets better is if it's for the title."

With Liverpool needing no less than three wins to have a chance of to-four this year, can lightning strike twice?
