A man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after two children were shot in Wolverhampton, police have said.

Paramedics were called to Bushbury in Wolverhampton just after 3pm on Monday May 1 by shocked members of the public.

A 15-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, who had been in parkland off the road, both suffered gunshot wounds to their legs in the incident.

Both of the children are expected to make a full recovery.

Kian Durnin, 22, from Wolverhampton, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

West Midlands Police said Durnin was tonight charged with two counts of attempted murder and with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and aggravated vehicle-taking.

A force spokesman said: “Two other men aged 21 and 25, who were arrested earlier last week, have been bailed with strict conditions.

“We continue to appeal for information regarding the incident.

“A special online MIPP portal has been set up for people to submit information, dashcam or doorbell footage.
