Police name man, 20, charged with 'murder' of woman found with facial injuries

Suzanne Henry was found with serious facial injuries and died in hospital a few days later

Police have named the 20-year-old man who is charged with murdering a woman found suffering serious facial injuries.

Finn Henry, from Newcastle-upon-Lyme, has been charged with killing 54-year-old Suzanne Henry, of Madeley, Newcastle-upon-Lyme.

Police rushed to a property in the Staffordshire town shortly before 10pm on Monday 1 May, after reports of a man acting suspiciously.

Shortly after they found Suzanne suffering serious facial injuries.

She was rushed to hospital where medics battled to save her life but she sadly died last night, Wednesday 3 May.

Finn Henry was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder before, whilst in custody, police further arrested him on suspicion of murder.

Detectives continue to question the young man, who’s relationship to Suzanne hasn’t been confirmed.

He is now due to appear in North Staffordshire Justice Centre tomorrow, Friday, May 5.

Detective Inspector Adrian Webb, from our Major Investigations Department, said: “My thoughts and condolences are with Suzanne’s family at this deeply traumatic time.

“I understand the state of shock, both in the family and the wider community, that such a tragic event has happened in the town of Madeley.

“We are solely focused on securing justice for Suzanne’s family and making sure we do everything possible to support them through this incredibly difficult time.

“I’d like to thank all of those who have already been in touch with information and for the patience which has been shown around the cordon on Newcastle Road.

“There could still be people with valuable information that haven’t came forward yet and we’d urge those people to get in touch with us as soon as they can.”

Those who were in the following areas between 5pm and 10.15pm on Monday (May 1), either on foot or driving, are asked to get in touch if they have any information:

• A525, Newcastle Road
• The junction of Moss Lane, near the fishing pool, through to the junction of Mill Lane
• Bevan Place and Lindops Lane.
