Boy, 12, arrested on suspicion of murder following death of woman
A 12-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman described as a “beautiful soul” was struck by a car and killed.
The woman in her 60s died at the scene after being found seriously injured in Sheffield, South Yorks., at about 7.10pm on Wednesday, police said.
The boy was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article and remains in custody.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene on the evening of April 5, where a woman in her 60s was found with serious injuries.
A picture showed a car in the centre of the road with a broken passenger window.

A semi-detached house nearby was under police guard and taped off.
One local arrived sobbing and left flowers with a card. She was helped away by local residents who tried to comfort her.
Another woman arrived and left a note saying: “I’m so sorry for your loss, She was a beautiful soul.”

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "Officers attended alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, to find a woman in her 60s suffering serious injuries. She sadly died at the scene.
"A 12-year-old boy was located a short time later and arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article. He remains in police custody.”

The road reportedly remained closed until this early hours of this morning and a property remained under police guard this afternoon.
Det Ch Insp Andrea Bowell appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
