A woman who started to go grey as teenager has decided to embrace her natural look after relying on hair dye for years - and she feels all the more 'liberated' for it.

Marci Beighley, 43, says she's much happier with her silvers on show and insists she'd "never go back". It's been nearly ten years since Marci binned her brown hair dye and she hasn't looked back since, describing her transformation as "liberating".

Marci, from Pennsylvania in the US, "kinda loved" that her silver hair made her a bit different when she was younger, as it made for a striking look during her art student days.

In 2010 Marci started colouring her hair brown every four or five weeks, worrying that she "looked tired" after giving birth to her second baby girl. When her daughters turned three and five, she decided to ditch the dye job once more, feeling much less exhausted by the stresses of parenthood at this stage.

Speaking with the Daily Star, Marci revealed: "It has been so freeing no longer having to keep up with the constant colouring and maintenance and the savings too.

"There's nothing I don't love about being dye free. I am so pleased and I'd never go back and it feels good to be fully me."

Although some were quick to tell Marci that they would never go dye-free themselves, she's managed to change minds along the way. The silver haired parent even convinced her own mum to grow out her greys, and says she now loves her new look, despite initially having reservations.

Marci added: “I can't tell you how often I’m stopped and asked about my hair. I'm asked for advice and given compliments. No one ever stopped and asked about my dyed hair.

"My kids get a kick out of it and are used to me pausing to give love and support to other women when we're out. And I love how my girls are both hoping they get my early greys as well. That makes me smile."

Marci now enjoys connecting with her fellow 'silver sisters' online, offering her advice and sharing her personal experiences. She often opens up about her transformation on Instagram where she's found the positive support she's received from other women to be "overwhelming".
