Man, 53, arrested over disappearance of girl, 11, later found safe and well
A man in his 50s has been arrested by police investigating the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl who was missing for more than 24 hours.
The schoolgirl vanished during a trip to the town centre in Galashiels, Scottish Borders, on Sunday.
Her parents raised the alarm at 5.45pm, sparking a huge search operation by police, specialist divers, and mountain rescue.
Late Monday evening Police Scotland reported the 11-year-old had been found safe and sound.
And in an update the force reported it has made an arrest as enquiries continue to be made.

The statement read: “A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl from Galashiels, who was reported missing on Sunday, 5 February.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Border Search and Rescue Unit and specialist teams joined the search (PA)“The girl was traced at a property in the Galashiels area around 9.30pm on Monday, 6 February.
“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
Police had launched an urgent appeal to find the youngster, amid concerns of foul play.
