A woman has died and two other seriously injured after a stabbing at a supported living home by a vulnerable patient in Stirling.

Police have arrested and charged a 32-year-old woman in connection with the incident.

The victim, a 54-year-old woman, was said to have been on shift as a carer at the time of the incident when she was attacked.

She was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she later died.

Officers confirmed two other women, aged 29 and 58, were injured in the incident. Both were also carers.

The 32-year-old woman will appear at Stirling Sheriff Court on Thursday after being charged in connection with the death and serious assaults.

A witness told the Sun: "The lady who died was a carer. It was quite frightening. The other two injured were also carers.

"One of them came out and one of them towels wrapped round their arm. Police and ambulances came down, the police had their guns out. It's tragic."

Floral tributes were left at the scene, with a 'deepest sympathy' card, it is reported.

The care facility for adults with disabilities, challenging behaviour and complex needs, is run by the Richmond Fellowship and supports around 18-20 people.

Detective Inspector Scott Roxburgh said: "At this time, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased, along with everyone else involved in this incident.

"We'd like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding as officers carry out enquiries in the area."

A Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health and Social Care Partnership spokesman added: “Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies are with this individual’s family and the other people involved in this tragic incident. Support is being offered to those affected.

“As a Police investigation is now underway, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
