As Liverpool prepare to face Manchester United in the second North-West Derby of the season, Jurgen Klopp will also know that he has to prepare for life without Roberto Firmino.

The striker's contract will expire at the end of the season and he will not sign a new deal to extend his stay at Anfield. The Brazilian has been a key player under Klopp, winning nearly every top-level trophy possible with the Reds.

The news of Firmino's exit comes as Klopp laughed off claims about Liverpool's long wait for a penalty and the Reds boss sent United star Marcus Rashford a message ahead of the derby on Sunday. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool news.

Firmino heads for exit

Roberto Firmino is heading for the Liverpool exit door after eight years with the club. The striker has won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, among other honours, during his time at Anfield.

His game time has steadily decreased over recent seasons, with the arrivals of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez signalling a changing of the guard among Klopp's attacking options.

With his status set to become more that of a bit-part player, Firmino has decided the time is right to move on. He is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas teams, though will have to wait for the summer to negotiate a Premier League move.

Klopp laughs off penalty claim

Jurgen Klopp could only laugh when confronted with the evidence of Liverpool's lack of penalty awards this season. The Reds have not been awarded a spot kick for 32 league games - a run stretching 11 months.

They have had 1,138 touches in the opposition's box during that time, per Opta, which is the longest streak without winning a penalty in Premier League history. Klopp was left amused by that revelation.

"We are very often in the opposition box, I have no clue how that could happen," said the Liverpool boss when asked on the matter. "Not getting a penalty for that long a time is funny."

Rashford message sent

Jurgen Klopp has set aside Liverpool's rivalry with Manchester United to hail Marcus Rashford. The attacker has been a revelation this season and Klopp has added his praise to Rashford's long line of admirers.

"It's impossible to be positive about something at Manchester United when you are Liverpool manager, but I am happy for Rashford. He is playing incredible. Speed, calm, a mix of everything," Klopp said.

The German added: "We have to make sure we show it is still incredibly difficult to play against us. We have to make sure they realise that. I couldn't be less interest in what Man United are doing, I just respect it."
