A raging motorist was so angry about getting a parking ticket that he mounted the pavement to chase and intimidate the traffic warden.

Grant Grubb ignored No Entry signs and drove the wrong way along one way streets to challenge Robbie Knox about his ticket.

An interim ban was imposed on 40-year-old Grubb after he admitted driving dangerously around various streets in the centre of Dundee, Scotland.

He admitted driving dangerously on January 13, 2021 and failing to comply with No Entry and one way signs.

Grubb admitted mounting the pavement and driving in close proximity to Mr Knox as he tried to make off to the safety of his office.

He also admitted exiting his Vauxhall Astra and hurling threats and abuse at Mr Knox, after being given a ticket for parking in a pedestrianised zone.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard that Grubb kicked off at police who arrived to quiz him on January 25, 2021 and hurled homophobic insults at officers. He also admitted that charge.

Fiscal depute Lee Corr told the court: "Mr Knox is employed as a parking attendant and at 11.22am he was on foot patrol on Cowgate.

"This is a pedestrian zone and no vehicles are permitted between 11 am and 4 pm from Monday to Saturday.

"He became aware of an Astra parked within the pedestrian zone.

"He issued a penalty notice to the vehicle. He then heard the sound of tyres screeching behind him. The accused drove through No Entry signs.

"He caught up with Mr Knox, stopped the vehicle, exited and immediately shouted 'why the fuck have I got a ticket?' Mr Knox explained the reason for issuing the ticket.

"He continued to act in an erratic manner, saying he was only away from the car for a minute. Mr Knox was fearful for his safety and made the decision to return to his office as quickly as he could."

Mr Knox turned on his body camera and the court was shown footage of Grubb driving along the pavement on a number of occasions to confront the parking warden.

He ignored oncoming traffic as he drove the wrong way down one way streets and tried to pin Mr Knox between his car and a bus shelter.

The camera picked up the sound of Grubb hurling constant abuse at Mr Knox as he tried to walk away from the scene.

Police were contacted and when they turned up at Grubb's home later the same month he denied any knowledge of the incident.

He then hurled homophobic abuse at the officers and was arrested.

He had been due to go on trial, but changed his plea to guilty at the last minute.

Sheriff George Way deferred sentence for reports and said: "He put himself and others at considerable risk."
