Police investigate death of man discovered between parked cars in Javea
A British man has been discovered deceased between two parked cars at a holiday resort in Costa Blanca, and the police are conducting an investigation.
The body of the 50-year-old was found on the ground in the town of Javea, located along the coast from Benidorm in southeast Spain.
The alarm was raised just before 7:45 a.m. this morning in Javea – approximately a 45-minute drive north of Benidorm.
The Civil Guard stated this afternoon that there were no evident signs of violence at the scene but emphasized that they are still waiting for the results of the autopsy.
It is not yet clear whether the deceased man was a local resident or was vacationing in the area.
Police hurried to the location following a 999 call to a regional government-run emergency response center.
The area was sealed off to allow forensic officers to conduct their investigations on the street.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Alicante, which covers Javea, confirmed today that the deceased was a 50-year-old British national.
He said: “At around 7:45 a.m. this morning, a report was received via a regional emergency response coordination center about the discovery of a potential deceased person on a street in the municipality of Javea.
“The officers sent to the scene confirmed the death of a 50-year-old British man.
“The Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of Calpe has taken over the investigations to clarify the circumstances of the incident.”
British consulate officials are understood to have been notified.
Back in May 2023, a British woman died after collapsing while taking a dip in the sea at the resort’s Arenal beach.
Reports at the time indicated she had collapsed while in shallow water near the water’s edge.
Her family members are understood to have pulled her out of the water while witnesses contacted emergency services.
