Red Arrows flypast crowns Trump’s ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle

Donald Trump has joined King Charles to watch a Red Arrows flypast after the US President received a royal welcome to Windsor Castle this afternoon.

The US president and the first lady Melania Trump were welcomed by Prince William and Princess Kate at the castle after they arrived by helicopter.

After walking out from the walled garden of the castle, Mr Trump then shook hands with the King and got into a carriage with him to join a procession. He then inspected troops as they performed national anthems.

Thousands of protesters have been marching through central London against the US president, while one lone individual has reportedly been rallying in favor.

While a planned F-35 flypast has been canceled due to poor weather, a Red Arrows display is set to go ahead, and the Trumps are set to enjoy a black tie banquet this evening.

The US first couple arrived at Stansted Airport on board Air Force One just after 9pm on Tuesday, ahead of a two-day visit that will see them meet with the King and the Queen, as well as Sir Keir Starmer and his wife.

Before boarding his flight, Trump hailed his "friend" King Charles and praised Sir Keir’s leadership.

The president is expected to discuss policy with the Prime Minister and will also be wined and dined for the second time, having previously visited in 2019 when Queen Elizabeth II was still on the throne.

Upon their arrival, the Trumps were welcomed by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, US ambassador Warren Stephens and The Viscount Hood, Lord in Waiting, representing the King.
