Serious accident on M60: traffic closed between Stockport and Denton
A stretch of the M60 has closed after a serious crash on the busy motorway in Greater Manchester.
The M60 is closed to traffic anticlockwise between junction J25 Bredbury and J24 Denton after a collision.
Drivers were warned to expect severe delays in the area, with traffic backing up past Stockport and to junction 1 with the A34 to south Manchester.
An air ambulance landed on the clockwise carriageway, which briefly closed all the lanes.

National Highways said: ‘The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed anti-clockwise between J25 (Bredbury) and J24 (Denton) following a serious collision.
‘Emergency services including Greater Manchester Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.
‘Please plan ahead if travelling in the area this afternoon.’
Diversions have been put in place for traffic, with motorists travelling anticlockwise advised to follow solid circle symbols on road signs.
Footage shows cars at a standstill on the carriageway in scorching temperatures as mercury hit 30C in Greater Manchester as thousands of fans headed to Heaton Park for the Oasis reunion concert.
Drivers stuck at the roadblock took to social media to warn others to steer clear of the area.
One said: ‘Crash on M60, it is standstill, avoid if you can.’
The carriageway remains closed after the crash, which is thought to have happened at about 2.30pm.
‘Investigations and clear up works remain ongoing at scene,’ National Highways said.
Normal traffic conditions are expected by 00.30am.
