Tragedy in Sutton Park: Body of missing teenager recovered from Powell’s Pool lake
The teenager disappeared in the water at Powell’s Pool, a lake in Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield, on Thursday evening, and West Midlands Police has confirmed he has died.
A community is in shock after the body of a teenage boy was recovered from a lake.
The grim discovery was made after a large rescue operation when the boy went missing in the water at Powell’s Pool, a lake in Sutton Park. The vast and expansive Sutton Park, located in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, is one of the largest urban parks in Europe.
The teenage boy has not been publicly identified by West Midlands Police, but the force states his family is being supported by specially trained officers. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Extensive efforts by all emergency services were conducted after the boy went missing in the water shortly after 6 pm. Specialist teams were deployed from fire and rescue, ambulance services, and Birmingham City Council colleagues."
