UK Imposes Sanctions on Russian Eurasia Project, Moldovan MP, and Georgian Judges

The UK has imposed sanctions on Russia’s Autonomous Non-Profit Organization (ANO) for International Cooperation Development, Eurasia, and its director, Nelly Parutenko. This was announced on April 2 on the UK government’s website.

The chairman of the board of trustees of ANO Eurasia is Vyacheslav Volodin, the Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Volodin has been sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison in Ukraine for encroaching on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Ukrainian state. He is also on the sanctions lists of the EU, Canada, Montenegro, Iceland, Norway, Albania, Liechtenstein, the US, Australia, Japan, the UK, and Switzerland.

Additionally, the UK’s new sanctions list includes Natalia Parasca, a board member and leader of Moldova’s Renaissance Party, as well as Moldovan MP Marina Tauber. The sanctions justification states that both individuals act "on behalf of or under the instructions of" fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor.

The UK has also sanctioned members of Georgia’s High Council of Justice, Levan Murusidze and Mikheil Chinchaladze.

Furthermore, the sanctions list includes seven Guatemalan citizens, bringing the total to 12 individuals.
