Gary Goldsmith didn't hold back when criticising Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle faced intense criticism from the Princess of Wales' uncle Gary Goldsmith, but one expert believes the Sussexes don't need to worry.

Just three nights into the latest season of Celebrity Big Brother, Gary was already causing a stir as he shared his thoughts on the Royal Family feud. The 59-year-old suggested Meghan and Harry should be stripped of their titles and said Prince William has "the weight of it all on his shoulders".

However, PR expert Ryan McCormick said he doesn't believe Gary's comments will affect the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said Gary might in fact be warned against commenting on the Royal Family in future.

Gary Goldsmith caused a stir on Celebrity Big Brother (ITV)

Ryan told us: "Because Goldsmith's is Kate's Uncle, his admonishment of Meghan and Harry while noteworthy, likely carries very little water in influencing the fate of the duo. I think Gary exercised poor judgment by making those comments at a time when Kate is recovering and when Harry is trying to reconnect with his family."

The Princess of Wales is continuing her recovery from abdominal surgery. Kate, who underwent a 13-day hospital stay in January, is not expected to return to public duties until after Easter.

Ryan continued: "Goldsmith while part of the royal family is not in the royal family bloodline. It seems strange that he felt he was in position to voice an opinion like this.

"From a PR perspective, Gary's statements will not impact Meghan and Harry's image, However, I wouldn't be surprised if he abruptly stops commenting on the Royals for the indefinite future.

Speaking to Fern Britton on Big Brother , Gary said: "[William's] done an amazing job in that horrible situation. He's had an olive branch open every time for Harry to come back and be part of the gang. I desperately feel that that's the case.
