Sharon Osbourne's reason for nominating Gary on CBB 'exposed'

Gary Goldsmith's friend of ten years has hit out at Sharon Osbourne as they appeared on Thursday's Lorraine to talk about Celebrity Big Brother.

Kate Middleton's uncle, 59, has joined the likes of Fern Britton, Louis Walsh and Sharon, 71, in the iconic ITV house with fans criticising him for joining the legendary reality TV show. On Wednesday's show, Sharon picked Gary to be the first Celebrity Big Brother housemate to face eviction later this week.

The Celebrity Big Brother lodger appeared on a live feed to all the housemates where she explained her reason for voting for Gary to be up for eviction this week, saying that he doesn't fit in as the only non celebrity and that the "awkward" contestant isn't "comfortable" in the house.

Speaking to Big Brother, and not knowing Gary and everyone was watching, she said: "The housemate that I nominate is Gary. I don't think he's that comfortable here, I think he's awkward with himself being here too. It's very tough for him; he told me about things.

"He's brave to have come in here. I somehow don't think this is the place for him. He's the oddball. If I went into his world, and suddenly plonked myself in the middle of his boardrooms, I'd feel the same. I think he's insecure too." As they all looked at Gary, he admitted: "To be fair, this isn't my world. I'd go back to normal life."

On Thursday's Lorraine, the Scottish host spoke to Gary's friend of ten years, Claudia Joseph, as she defended her pal and admitted she wasn't impressed with Sharon's reasons for the nomination, claiming nobody has had a chance to see the "real Gary".

Claudia said: "I think it's been very weighted against him and he probably understands that. I personally think that Sharon seems to have been against him from the beginning almost.

"I don't know why but to put someone up for nomination because they don't fit into a group of showbiz characters, I think it's unfortunate there weren't any sports stars or people he would have had something in common with in there. It is quite showbiz. Her complaints seem to be, simply, that he doesn't have the same job as the rest of them."
