Meghan Markle made her feelings about Donald Trump clear as she "was unwilling to meet" him during her time in the Royal Family, according to a royal expert.

The Duchess of Sussex moved to London in 2017 and lived in the UK for three years. During her time as a working royal, Trump made a number of visits to London, but royal correspondent Michael Cole said Meghan refused to meet the former US President. He also claimed she voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 American presidential election.

Now, PR expert Ryan McCormick has suggested Meghan's move will have likely encouraged a lot of the US population to "conspire against her". He said a career for Meghan in politics is unlikely.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Ryan said: "Because the US is such a politically polarised nation, Meghan openly revealing her disdain for President Trump isn't the smartest PR move. Right now both her and Harry need to shore up fan support.

"This move ensures they'll fail to reach the widest audience possible. Not only that but, Markle's statements will likely mobilise individuals to conspire against her who otherwise would have never done so."

He continued: "Americans don't like when celebrities, CEO's, or public figures snarl at their political heroes. It immediately turns them away and some may organize boycotts. In Markle's case, for any new books she writes or films she produces, I wouldn't be surprised if a sizable portion of the future negative reviews will be coming from Trump loyalists."

Ryan said Meghan's potential political career "would be a total disaster". He explained: "In the short-term, Markle would find a clearer picture of her true popularity in the US. We must keep in mind that Americans who watch the Duchess' TV series may not necessarily support her candidacy.

"Should comprehensible polling reveal that only a small percentage of voters view Meghan favourably, it will likely shatter the illusion of the popularity she claims to have in America. This in turn could upend future deals with media platforms who would now know that the fair market value of this ex-royal is considerably lower than once thought.

"In addition, as a candidate for office Meghan would need to become more transparent about her positions on various social and economic issues. All of these stances will be heavily scrutinised by both the US and UK media." He concluded: "Bottom line is that Markle should stay as far away from US politics as possible now and in the future."
