There's nothing quite as exciting as going to pick a Vinted parcel up from your local locker.

There are so many bargains on offer, and when you've managed to bag one for yourself, it really feels as though you've hit the jackpot. But what would you do if your parcel arrived in a bag, covered in 'blood stains'?

One Vinted shopper was left horrified when their parcel allegedly arrived packaged in meat packaging from a local butcher, and the bag appeared to be covered in splatters of red animal blood. The item was also wrapped up in paper towels, which also appear to have red marks on it.

The buyer bought a ring light from the online resale store, and it cost just £2.80, including a buyer's protection fee, which is there to "provide buyers with a secure buying experience", according to Vinted. The buyer's protection fee means you can get a refund if your item "is significantly not as described, doesn't arrive, or arrives damaged."

When the unnamed buyer received their parcel, they quickly contacted the seller to alert them to the misdemeanour, highlighting the unusual choice of packaging to them as they weren't best pleased by it.

In their message, they claimed: "I don't know if you were aware but the plastic bag you used to ship the light was a butcher's bag that must've been used recently as there's dried blood on the bag as well as the paper towels around the light."

But they didn't want to take the matter further as "the light itself works fine" so they were "happy to check that everything was okay", but they just wanted to let the seller "know for the future" so that they didn't send something out in questionable packaging again.

Other Vinted users were really shocked at the terrifying wrapping paper, wondering why they'd chosen that to send the item out in. One wrote: "Buyer is being incredibly chill, this is disgusting." Another simply referred to it as "so gross", with someone else joking: "If it were me I would have major beef with that seller."

A stunned second-hand shopper said it was a "biohazard", but an eco-warrior penned: "How can you complain about eco-friendly packaging?"

Vinted has been contacted for comment.
