Taylor Swift fans have had to be evacuated from her Sydney show after lightning strikes nearby the Accor Stadium.

The singer's Friday performance in the city has now been delayed, disappointing the 80,000 fans heading to the show, which would have been Taylor's first Eras Tour in Sydney. Fans sitting on the floor and lower levels of the stadium were asked to move inside following a lightening strike just 10km away.

Accor Stadium released a statement to announce the show has been delayed. "Please note, due to weather, show start time has been delayed. Stay undercover until further notice and follow venue screens and staff instructions," it said.

The statement continued: "Stay safe and remember to be kind to those around you." Taylor's fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to show terrifying views from inside the stadium.

"There was a lightening strike within 10km of the stadium so we've all been evacuated into cover omg," one person wrote as they shared a snap of the deserted stadium. Another fan joked: "It’s a rain show #SydneyTSTheErasTour."

A third fan seemed defiant as she shared a snap of her Eras Tour outfit and commented: "MEET ME IN THE POURING RAIN." Someone else urged: "Have fun and stay safe."

Fans were asked to evacuate the stadium after an employee announced on a loudspeaker that lightning had struck 10km away and ticket holders needed to evacuate. Concertgoers were seen wearing ponchos to try and protect themselves from the rain as they moved to covered areas of the arena.

Sabrina Carpenter was set to be Taylor's support act at the show, with her set supposed to begin at 6.20pm. Taylor was then due to take to the stage at 7.30pm. It's now been reported that Sabrina will not be playing her set, although it seems like Taylor could soon take to the stage.

The Sydney Morning Herald has reported security at the stadium has now let fans back onto the stadium floor, with the storms seemingly clearing. Accor Stadium had said the show will go on unless there is "severe weather which could impact the safety of artists and patrons."
