Mark Woodbine, 29, claimed he found "filth, grime and ants" in his room at the Brean Sands resort. He said it was so bad, he "wouldn't have let his dog sleep" there.
Mark had paid £169 for a three-night stay with his daughter Ellie, 5, but ended up spending hundreds more to stay somewhere else.
"I was planning to go to Dubai in April but that went down the pan," he said.
"As soon as I got the chance, I decided to get away to try and get rid of some stress."
Still determined to have a break, Mark forked out an extra £402 for a three-night caravan break at nearby Unity Farm - finding several other unhappy Pontins' guests having fled there to safety too.

Another family were horrified when they found mould and stains in their 'filthy' rooms at the same resort. Teresa Barbato had booked a three-night stay for her family, paying £130 for two apartments.
When they arrived, they found one of the rooms had children's bunk beds and allegedly discovered mould in the bedrooms, broken electronics, and what they thought was poo on a pull-out sofa bed. The family were so upset by the conditions, they left after just one night.
A mum from Gloucestershire also spoke of her family's "gross" experience during a weekend trip to the Brean Sands park.
Elizabeth Holloway, from Cheltenham, said there were ants in the kitchen, dirty windows and the smell of cannabis around the site.
The mum-of-two says it was a "nightmare" holiday for her whole family as they sat in the entertainment room, which was filled with very drunk customers and women lifting their tops up. Elizabeth, 40, and her husband, Michael, took their children - James, 10 and Joshua, 8 - for their first holiday since lockdown but were left upset after staying in what she describes as "disgusting" accommodation.

But the couple were so disgusted by the state of their chalet that they didn't even unpack their suitcases. They ended up spending Matthew's birthday weekend at home in Cheltenham instead.
Even though they gave the company two hours to clean the chalet after they arrived at 7.30pm for their weekend break in early August, the couple said it was still in the same state when they returned.
The holiday company said it couldn't have a £286 refund because they didn't speak to a manager or fill in a Pontins Guest Solutions Form before they left, the family claimed.

The couple said it appeared the room had not been cleaned before guests were allowed to return as the pandemic restrictions eased.
They also claimed there were burnt chips on the side of the oven. They checked in for a three-night stay from 2pm on Friday, July 17 but left with Ethan at 8pm. Despite it being their first break since lockdown, they could not wait to get home.
