Missing 5-year-old found dead in sewer as foster mum is arrested over 'murder'
The body of missing five-year-old Darnell Taylor has been found in a sewage drain and his foster mother has been arrested.
The tragic little boy was discovered at 1am on Friday morning in Columbus, Ohio, police have confirmed. A two-day search for the youngster is at an end after cops were alerted on Wednesday to the child's disappearance.
Pammy Maye, the woman suspected of abducting him, was arrested on Tiedeman Road in Brooklyn late last night after someone reported seeing her walking in the area. Police later found the body of the boy nearby.
Maye was taken to a local hospital where she gave information to police about what happened to Darnell. Officers found his body a short time later. Residents in the Cleveland area were warned to be on the lookout for the pair after the alert yesterday.

The body of Darnell Taylor was found at 1 am FridayThe Ohio Attorney General confirmed Darnell's death to local press this morning. Police are investigating as a homicide. Her husband, not yet named by the force, called police around 3am on Wednesday, saying his wife, 48, woke him up and “made statements that made him believe that their foster child, Darnell had been hurt”. The vehicle was found in Brooklyn shortly before 6am.
Chilling audio of the 911 call was played at a news conference Thursday. A man can be heard appearing to say that his wife said “that she killed our foster child,” but the audio is not entirely clear. “As you heard from the portion of the 911 call that you heard, we have reason, significant reason, to believe that Darnell could be in danger,” Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant said yesterday.
Police filed charges of third-degree child endangerment and first-degree kidnapping against the woman before her arrest. Maye began fostering the boy in May 2023, when he was three. His biological family has been notified of his disappearance. Police were allegedly called to her address several months ago for an unrelated incident.
The discovery came just hours after Darnell's biological grandfather Anthony Baines made a desperate plea for his safe return. "Please bring him home," the tearful grandfather told WBNS, before adding that he felt 'partially responsible' for Darnell's disappearance after deciding to give him up for adoption.
