Jurgen Klopp has just a matter of months left at Liverpool but could leave after masterminding the Reds’ best ever season.

The Merseyside club are still well in the race to lift four trophies come the end of the season. Liverpool are well in the battle to lift the Premier League title, while they are also still in the FA Cup and Europa League.

Before that, they also have a Carabao Cup final to navigate. A search for Klopp’s permanent successor is also continuing in the background. Former Reds midfielder is the early favourite to take the post, as he continues to impress with Bayer Leverkusen.

Take a look at all of the news to come out of Anfield over the past 24 hours:

Carragher snaps back at Alonso theory

Jamie Carragher has disputed that Xabi Alonso is too inexperienced to take the reins from Klopp at Anfield. Speaking with CBS Sports, he said: "It's still very early in his managerial career.

"In an ideal world you'd say, 'It's Xabi Alonso but he's had another job, he might have won a Champions League somewhere else, he's won a league here' and all these different things.

"But, I don't see where he is right now, anyone that would be in front of him in terms of what Liverpool fans want or maybe the Liverpool board want. I don't know what the Liverpool board want but he just feels like he is the standout candidate."

Alonso ally breaks silence

On the topic of Alonso, his close ally Tim Steidten has confirmed that he has not been approached by the Reds over their sporting director vacancy. "I've heard that I am supposed to be on the list at Liverpool," he told Sky Germany.

"It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it's an honour. But so far nobody from LFC has contacted me yet. I generally feel very comfortable at West Ham.

“I quickly realised how intense this league is. Accordingly, we signed the right players in the last transfer windows. The squad is strong, so we can achieve our goals.”

Alexander-Arnold out of Carabao Cup final

Liverpool have been hit with a bombshell ahead of the Carabao Cup final, with Trent Alexander-Arnold ruled out. The defender suffered a lateral knee ligament tear in the Reds’ FA Cup win at Arsenal back in January.

He returned but then suffered from a recurrence. There is currently no return date for the academy graduate but there is no chance that he will play at Wembley.
