Prince Harry and Meghan Markle real Super Bowl intentions revealed after snub
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s real Super Bowl intentions have been revealed after the couple’s surprise snub.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were expected to attend the Super Bowl in Las Vegas on Sunday, to watch the San Francisco 49’ers face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in the biggest sporting event of the year. The stadium was packed with A-list stars, including Taylor Swift, who was cheering on her boyfriend Travis Kelce, Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Bieber and Blake Lively, but the Sussexes were surprisingly absent.
It later emerged that they had turned down tickets to the football game, and had no intention of attending the Super Bowl as they were flying to Canada the day after. Rumours began to swirl that Harry would turn up to the game on Sunday after he unexpectedly appeared at the NFL Honors ceremony in Las Vegas just a few days before, and handed out the NFL Man of the Year award to Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward.

A source told the publication that the 39-year-old’s appearance at the NFL Honors "wasn’t a precursor to him attending" the Super Bowl, and Harry was already behind schedule after his last-minute dash to London to visit his father King Charles, following news of his cancer diagnosis.

It’s not yet known if they will be traveling with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

"Man, Prince freaking Harry. Man, I'm in shock. That's Prince Harry," he exclaimed. During his brief time at the bash, Harry made a passionate speech about the importance of sport, and even joked that America had "stolen rugby from us and made it your own".
"All kidding aside, all you guys do on and off the field is truly remarkable. You are role models for millions in the way you carry yourselves and in the way you give back. This final award, the highest honour, is all about serving your community. And there's one special man we'd like to pay tribute to now. A player who goes above and beyond and whose extraordinary commitment to helping others is a reflection of his own story," Harry said to rousing applause.
