Meghan Markle has said that she is "proud" to announce her new podcast after she and her husband were brutally axed from Spotify last year.

The Duchess of Sussex famously hosted her Spotify podcast, Archetypes, before it came to an end last year. And now she is "proud" to share that she's joined Lemonada to continue her "love of podcasting", as per a new statement from the former Suits star.

In a statement released today, Meghan said: "I’m proud to now be able to share that I am joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting. Being able to support a female founded company with a roster of thought-provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a fantastic way to kick off 2024."

When the Duke and Duchess departed from the Royal family in 2020, they signed a lucrative $25million (£19million) deal with streaming platform Spotify. Amid the eye-watering deal, Meghan launched her own podcast series, Archetypes. The 12-episode series saw Meghan chat with different celebrity pals, including tennis icon Serena Williams, legendary singer Mariah Carey, and socialite Paris Hilton.

But it all came to an abrupt end last year when Meghan's podcast Archetypes was suddenly dropped by Spotify, with the Sussexes labelled as "grifters" by an executive at the streaming platform.

The couple were brutally described as "f***ing grifters" by top Spotify executive Bill Simmons, who works as head of podcast innovation and monetisation at the streaming service. When the couple departed, Mr Simmons hit out at the Sussexes in an episode of his own podcast, saying: "The f***ing grifters. That's the podcast we should have launched with them."

At the time, Bill added: "I've got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It's one of my best stories."

Meghan's exciting announcement comes mere hours after she and her husband launched a brand new website, which has been making headlines all day. The Sussexes launched a brand new website titled Sussex.com, which followed on from the launch of their SussexRoyal.com website a few years ago in 2020, ahead of their departure from both the Royal Family and the United Kingdom.
