If you ever wondered which member of the Royal Family is the "most romantic", then the mystery is finally solved.

A former royal butler has revealed that of all the royals it is Prince William who is likely to go the extra mile on Valentine's Day to show his appreciation to his wife Kate, and that he pays serious attention even to the smallest details when he's planning a romantic gesture.

Particularly after the health issues that Kate has been dealing with in recent weeks, the former butler anticipates that William is likely to go all out this Valentine's Day, sparing no expense to ensure she feels "important and appreciated".

The former butler, Grant Harrold, worked for Charles and Camilla for seven years, and also worked for the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. He revealed, whilst speaking on behalf of Slingo, that during his tenure in the royal household, he discovered that William is a true "romantic at heart" and a "gentleman".

Harrold explained that of the royals, William would be the one to go above and beyond on Valentine's Day, and gets deeply involved in all the planning when he sets up romantic dates with his wife Kate.

"William has always been a romantic at heart. He was always a gentleman with Kate and he still is to this day. His attention to detail is always spot on and what he does to make Kate feel important and appreciated.

"He's the most romantic royal. I remember doing one of my first dinners for the two of them, and it was around Valentine's Day. He was involved in all the planning, he had thought everything out. He thought about how the table was going to look, every detail."

Harrold added that the couple often mark Valentine's Day and that this year he would expect William to make sure his wife has a special time amidst her recovery from what Kensington Palace has called a "planned abdominal surgery" after which she spent several days in the London Clinic.

"There will be flowers involved, chocolates, and special gifts," the former member of the royal household said.

While Kensington Palace announced on 29 January that Kate had been discharged from hospital, and has "returned home to continue her recovery from surgery" and is "making good progress" she is expected to remain off-duty when it comes to royal engagements until Easter.
