King Charles was "touched" by Prince Harry's huge gesture of flying in from the States to see him in the UK following his cancer diagnosis.

Harry jetted in from California for a 30 minute reunion with his father, putting aside their bitter estrangement to be by his side. The Daily Mail's Robert Jobson revealed: "Charles was widely reported to have been touched by the gesture. Perhaps he was."

He added that the brief nature of their meeting, giving that Harry had flown so far to see him, indicated that their relationship was still 'complex'. Royal fans had waited for a meaningful reunion, after all.

Robert wrote: "It's easy to forget that the bond between King Charles and Harry, his 'darling boy', was once a source not just of joy but of affection - a relationship even warmer than that between Charles and William, perhaps. He adds: "The distance between them has now grown to the point that their conversations, where there are any conversations, have become mere echoes of the past."

The Duke of Sussex dashed to the UK from his home in California just hours after the news was made public that the King had a form of cancer. After flying 5,500 miles on an 11-hour British Airways flight, he is believed to have held just a 30-minute meeting with Charles before the monarch headed to Sandringham to rest.

Just over 24 hours after he arrived, Harry then flew back to Los Angeles to his wife Meghan Markle and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Since quitting as a working royal, Harry's allegations against his family appeared with his Oprah interview, and, in the months following the Queen’s death, his Netflix documentary and memoir Spare.

And according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, the length of the meeting was very telling. She told OK!: "It seems quite extraordinary that they couldn’t have spent a little more time together in London or Sandringham. Meanwhile Prince Harry could be set to resume senior royal duties in 2024 after his brief visit to King Charles.

It comes as The Mirror revealed King Charles' youngest son "plans to spend more time in England" following his father's cancer diagnosis. It's thought there's a reasonable chance Harry could soon resume his royal duties.

There's even a chance he could move back to the United Kingdom after visiting Charles earlier this week. According to safebettingsites.com, the Duke of Sussex is 6/1 to become a working Royal again sometime this year.

It comes after he stepped down from his role in 2020, sparking a huge royal storm. Prince Harry is 4/1 to leave the United States and move back to the UK after what has been a tough few months for the Royal Family where both the Princess of Wales and King Charles were hospitalised.

Princess Kate spent time in hospital for planned abdominal surgery, while the King was diagnosed with cancer after an operation for a separate issue of concern. Safebetting.com spokesperson Neil Roarty, said: "Prince Harry's visit of King Charles earlier this week was heavily publicised by the media, leading to speculation that he could deliver a U-turn on his decision to step down from being a working royal over four years ago.
