My tastebuds have only just started to recover, but I'm ready to talk about it.

McDonald's dropped its new menu items yesterday, featuring its spiciest ever burger yesterday (February 7) - the McSpicy x Frank's RedHot. It's the burger we all know and love, with a scorching twist. The burger, tastebud-tingling burger features a hot and spicy 100% chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating, jalapeños - and the never seen in the UK before Frank's RedHot Mayo - all presented in a sesame seed bun.

As a big fan of Frank's RedHot, I was incredibly excited to try it out - but the problem is I'm not too good with spice. How does that work then, you might ask? Well, I love the flavour of spicy food - but the heat can make me feel really uncomfortable. So this is the ultimate test - will it have the iconic flavour I love, without being so hot I can't eat it?

There's no doubt about it - this is a spicy burger. But to its credit, it's worth it. The only way I can describe it is - this is a grower AND a shower. When I first looked at it I was petrified - it's not only slathered in the spicy mayo, but also topped with plenty of jalapeños, which normally make me sweat just by looking at them.

I tentatively took my first bite - delicious, I thought. But then my mouth started tingling, and it just kept going, and going. My eyebrows started sweating, and I needed a tissue afterwards to wipe my nose. In fact, the only saving grace was the new KitKat Ruby Chocolate McFlurry, which cooled me down.

And I'm not the only one who struggled. Assistant News Editor Joseph Gamp, who can normally handle spicy food, said he'd give it a "three out of five" on the spice scale, and that his mouth "felt lopsided" afterwards. However, spice-fan Deputy News Editor Alahna Kindred said: "I'd give it a four our of 10 on the spice scale. Can definitely get some heat but it doesn't really ramp up the more you eat it."

Don't get me wrong, I think it's absolutely delicious. The chicken is super crispy and juicy, and the RedHot mayonnaise is a great addition. As a Frank's lover I do wish it had slightly more of the flavour, rather than a generic 'spicy' one, but I'd still have it again.

We also tried McDonald's brand new pink desserts - the KitKat Ruby Chocolate McFlurry Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie. The new McFlurry, which comprises of soft dairy ice cream swirled with ruby chocolate-covered KitKat pieces and wafer bites, is just what I hoped it would be.

There's so much going on here. but it just works, and I'm already dreading the thought of it disappearing from the menu. It's not too sweet, as the raspberry sauce has a tartness to it. Money Editor Levi Winchester added: "The pink raspberry sauce is definitely the standout flavour here and it really cuts through the creamy ice cream. Make sure you eat it quickly, otherwise the KitKat pieces can go a bit soft."

Meanwhile, McDonald's has seriously upped its pie game - and this one is yet another winner. This is a crispy pink pastry filled with a smooth white chocolate ganache and a delightful raspberry compote - a winning combination.

The raspberry flavour is certainly dominant if you get a bite of both fillings, but they do compliment each other well. Levi agreed, adding: "Again, the raspberry sauce is overwhelmingly the dominant flavour but the white chocolate is lovely and sweet when you get a mouthful of it. I love how crispy the pie case is."
