ITV's Queen of Clean, Lynsey Crombie, has shared her ultimate tip to cut tumbling drying costs while ensuring your clean clothes dry at speed.

As winter continues, and storms keep battering Britain, we are layering up our clothes which consequently means the washing pile is never-ending. As the rising cost of living crisis also keeps adding an extra burden to people's purse strings, continuously using our washing machines can rack up our bills. So, saving money where we can is essential.

Lynsey Crombie - best known for sharing her life hack tips on ITV's This Morning - is helping people stop their laundry and bills from overflowing. The cleaning expert and best-selling author, says that households do not need expensive tumble dryers or dehumidifiers to dry their clothes throughout winter, nor airers scattered everywhere.

Lynsey appeared on This Morning recently and spoke to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary about her favourite tips. She swears by airing her laundry outside - even if it's cold. Unlike other cleaning lovers, she prefers using a washing line and a laundry basket.

The TV personality says she put two loads out in one day recently and then left it in her fresh laundry basket for 10 minutes to ensure it is 100 per cent dry. The life hack expert said: "People are scared of drying outside this time of year…but, I got two loads dry yesterday. We get it out for 7am and bring it in at about 4pm. It sort of feels a bit wet, but it’s not wet, it's just cold."

Lyndsey also pointed out during the TV segment that drying your laundry outside may also help it smell fresher plus kill more germs. If needed, Lyndsey will sometimes use a tumble dryer - but insists people use a double spin to help with drying.

Instead of simply spinning her clothes once, Lyndsey will run an extra cycle. She said: "I've been doing that for years and it makes a massive massive difference. A 10 minute spin at the end [will] get more water out, especially if it's jeans, bedding [or] heavy towels. Then it comes out a little bit drier for when it goes on the line."
