A day out to the park can quickly end in disaster.

Most children are accident-prone, especially when pumped on playground adrenaline and sugar. Of course, the odd grazed knees from coming off of the swings, or an occasional bruise from falling over, is pretty harmless. They might cry for a couple of seconds but then they get over it, realising they're now missing out on all the fun.

However, a video of a child who appears to break her leg when going down the slide has resulted in mothers issuing a stark warning. Even if you don't have a little one of your own, it's worth knowing how to prevent something like this from happening again.

Tiny Hearts is a brand spearheaded by former paramedic Nikki and her sibling, Rach. The duo started the company to 'educate parents and caregivers navigate their journey with confidence' - and give advice on how to keep babies and tots safe.

After coming across a harrowing video online where a little girl appears to break her leg while going down a slide, Tiny Hearts demonstrated the 'safe' method they prefer to use. This involves tucking kids' stray legs, fingers, and hands between the adult and the slide - rather than letting their legs dangle freely.

At the time of writing, the post has attracted more than 9,000 likes and hundreds of comments from shocked parents. "Seeing that happen made me panic," one mother wrote.

Another said: "This is exactly how my one year old broke his leg going down a slide. Thank you for educating people on this." While a third added: "My son did this [on a slide]. The hospital said as we walked in 'let me guess, slide or trampoline?'"

Many parents said they refuse to let their kids go on the slide, even using the 'safe method', as they don't want to risk any accidents. One woman branded it her 'biggest fear', before adding: "I won't let anyone slide with my toddler."
