King Charles has been seen waving while walking to church in his first public outing since leaving the hospital.

The monarch arrived with Queen Camilla to attend the service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, Norfolk, this morning. They were pictured walking to church with Reverend Canon Paul Williams.

The King underwent a corrective procedure for the benign condition last week and it has been reported that Charles could take up to a month off from public duties as he recuperates. He is understood to have wanted to share the news to encourage other men to get themselves checked.

Dressed in a smart suit, he left the London Clinic on Monday after a stay of three nights. Camilla had previously said her husband is "fine" and looking forward to getting back to work.

A statement from Buckingham Palace on Monday said: "The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation. He would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days."

Meanwhile, a statement on the Royal Family's official X account added: "Thank you to all those who have sent their good wishes during The King's hospital stay. His Majesty is delighted that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness."

On Wednesday, Camilla gave an update on her husband's health saying he is "getting on" and "doing his best". Camilla, 76, was asked how her husband was faring as she officially opened a new Maggie's cancer support centre at the Royal Free Hospital in northwest London.

On arrival, she was introduced to donors including Sir Gerald Ronson, who asked about the King's health following his treatment for an enlarged prostate. "He's getting on, doing his best," she replied. When Dori Dana-Haeri, who led the fundraising effort for the new centre, said she was "so pleased" Charles, 75, was well, the Queen nodded as she said: "Thank goodness." Meanwhile, supporter Sir Michael Pakenham said: "All best wishes to His Majesty for the very best recovery." Camilla replied: "Thank you very much, that’s very kind. I'll pass it on."

Camilla's visit to the Royal Free Hospital was ahead of World Cancer Day today. While there, she met the architectural team, who played a key role in designing the centre to be a safe and welcoming environment. She also met with staff working in the centre, volunteers and visitors to hear how Maggie's has supported them and their families.

Charles was treated at the same hospital where the Princess of Wales was being cared for after abdominal surgery. After he was admitted on Friday, Charles took time to visit his daughter-in-law, Kate - although she too has now returned home to Windsor after being discharged on Monday to continue her recovery.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman previously said the King was "admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment". The spokesman added: "His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness."
