Tyson Fury accused Oleksandr Usyk 's manager of using a derogatory term about his wife Paris but was quickly forced to apologise.

Heavyweight champion Fury was scheduled to fight Usyk for the undisputed world titles on February 17 but pulled out on just over two weeks' notice after suffering a cut in sparring. Usyk's manager Egis Klimas then lashed out at Fury by labelling him a "coward" and a "b****" whilst accusing him of not wanting to fight the Ukrainian.

Fury took aim at Usyk and Klimas in an interview on The MMA Hour by saying: "Egis, never call me coward again. I’ve had 35 professional fights and have been boxing 18 years of my life. I've climbed off the canvas 10 times from the biggest punchers in history to win.

"Never a coward, never backed down from any man in my life. If any man calls my wife a b**** I will take his f****ng teeth out.

Klimas then insisted that he didn't say anything derogatory about Fury's wife by replying: "I didn't call your wife a b****, I don't do that s***." Fury was then forced to backtrack on his comments as he said to Klimas: "Well I'll apologise about that, I thought that I saw something about my wife."

Fury didn't stop there as he turned his attention to comments Klimas made about him being scared to fight Usyk. "How can you call me a coward? You’ve never boxed before in your life, how am I a coward? I’ve had 35 professional fights, I'm a two-time undefeated heavyweight champion, the second longest reigning lineal champion in history. How am I coward? Let’s see the coward," he said.

Fury needed 11 stitches to fix the massive gash about his right eye and will now face several weeks on the sidelines. Usyk was rumoured to be fighting a different opponent on February 17 but the event has now been cancelled entirely. It took just one day for Saudi Arabia to find a new date for the fight as Fury and Usyk have been rescheduled to fight on May 18 in Riyadh.

"It was yesterday morning sparring, I arranged to spar 12 rounds with four different guys," Fury added. "In round five I got an elbow in the eye, I've been to the hospital and got 11 stitches - nothing much anything can do about cut in sparring, s*** happens. It’s a cut that you can’t help and these things happen in camp sometimes."
