Terraced house squeezed into narrow gap looks tiny until you step inside
Meet the real-life TARDIS, located conveniently close to the Overground and organic farmer's market.
You should never judge a book by its cover - or a house for that matter. Take for example this seemingly cramped and narrow terrace house that has shocked the internet after revealing its ample interior.
The four-bedroom property, located in South East London, was a former coach house but has been transformed by architects into a sleek abode. It's now a three-story house that opens out dramatically at the back, making way for a lush private garden. Natural light beams through the place thanks to the large glass windows, meaning it's a great home to take selfies in.
A buyer snapped up the quirky home a few years ago (Rightmove/The Modern House)Back in 2019, the deceptive property was put on the market for a cool £1,250,000 - and was quickly snapped up. Rightmove still lists the property as STC (Subject To Contract) and doesn't list how much it went for, but estate agents at The Modern House say the property is sold. Even if the property went for asking price, it's reasonable it would now be worth a whopping £1.49 million.
The inside features spacious, open plan living areas (Rightmove/The Modern House)"In the same way that the TARDIS is much bigger on the inside despite its exterior being of limited size, the same is true of this impressive property," Rightmove said. "Remarkably, the Coach House extends to 1,621 sq ft across three floors, with a modern open plan living space at the back of the property blending into a private, urban oasis of a garden."

It opens up at the rear to provide a large gardenThey continued: "The Coach House has been rigorously designed as a 'smart' house, with underfloor heating, an eight-speaker Sonos system in the living room and kitchen as well as a video camera doorbell at the front door." Photos inside show a modern kitchen joining a spacious living room, with exposed brickwork offset by concrete pillars. Upstairs the sleek design continues, with a simple bedroom featuring a floor to ceiling window and mirror to open up the space.
Most rooms feature floor to ceiling windows (Rightmove/The Modern House)Rightmove’s property expert Miles Shipside said: "It's wonderful to see such diverse property for sale on Rightmove and this beautifully contemporary home is definitely one of a kind. I love how the narrow façade disguises a quite magnificent home behind it, giving the impression that this property is almost like the TARDIS from Doctor Who."
