Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's future at Netflix has finally been revealed, with the couple said to be taking their time working on a number of projects.

It's been four years since the Sussexes signed a lucrative £80million contract with the streaming giant, but they've only produced three shows so far. One of their projects was even cancelled by Netflix.

Amid rumours Meghan and Harry's partnership with Netflix was set to come to an end, the company's chief content officer Bela Bajaria announced several new shows to come from the Duke and Duchess. However, she warned fans they may have to wait a little longer as the projects are "all very early development".

Speaking at an event in Hollywood to announce Netflix's upcoming projects, Bela teased there are a few more things to come from Meghan and Harry. "Oh, what are they working on. They actually have a bunch in development," she said, according to Deadline.

"They have a couple of unscripted things they're working on with Brandon [Reigg]. And they actually have like a bunch of development, they have a movie in development, a [scripted] series that they're working on." Bela did not offer further details, but the "unscripted" projects are thought to be documentaries.

Entertainment expert Mark Boardman believes there are several factors at play as to why Meghan and Harry are taking their time. "These include not only COVID and the SAG-AFTRA strikes, but also the couple's personal circumstances, including children, and other agreements, such as filming for the Invictus Games for Harry and event management," he explained to Newsweek.

He also suggested Meghan and Harry's slow work output "must be a joint decision". Mark explained: "Rather than rushing out content to meet public expectations, they are focusing on quality projects."

He said the couple should now be thinking about making announcements about the future. While no further details have yet been given about Meghan and Harry's upcoming projects, they bought the screen rights to Carley Fortune's Meet Me At The Lake, meaning it's likely this could be their movie project with Netflix.

The bestselling book tells the the story of a couple who meet in their thirties and deals with themes of childhood trauma, including losing a parent in a car crash, mental health challenges and post-natal depression. The Sussexes previously released their docuseries Harry & Meghan, Live To Lead and the Heart of Invictus documentary.
